Sound Body Wisdom is a somatic and experiential form that draws on the wisdom of the body in motion, awareness practices, somatic-based therapies and life. The qualities of movement, breath, voice, rhythm, witnessing and reflection are vehicles for creative exchange, expression and gentle learning in this practice. We will be exploring the interplay of these combined with thought processes, social mores, personal hsitory and group dynamics.
We will learn to connect with others and ourselves through both structured techniques and improvised exercises. We will find awareness with our breath and bring breath into sound through our voice. Toning, vocal rhythm jams, expressive movement, group and partnered exercises will guide us into deeper relationship with our voice, bodies and our sense of vulnerability.
Sound Body Wisdom believes movement, voice/breath, creativity and awareness are the very foundations of life and key ingredients for being fully alive. It emphasizes the art of awareness and the capacity to sense, feel and think in each situation, re-learning and integrating our physical, emotional and creative bodies. It supports the wisdom of inner connectivity leading to outer expressivity. It seeks to understand what prevents us from being fully embodied, empowered and enlivened and the pathways to transform this. We each have the innate capacity to continue to grow and evolve, developing our relationship to self, others and our environments. Part of this evolution begins by leaving behind our limited sense of self and expanding into new ways of knowing. Each of us brings our own unique experiences and knowledge to this work. Truly listening to our personal wisdom and meeting it with curiosity can help facilitate sessions that serve each individual, the group and beyond.
